Dear Colleagues,
Our annual meeting in Durham is only six months away. Enclosed are a number of documents that were also sent in January.
Dues may be paid by check, credit card, or wire transfer. The credit card processing fee is $10 U.S. Emeritus members who voluntarily pay dues will not be assessed the credit card processing fee. If you have not yet sent in your dues payment, please do so using the enclosed MEMBERSHIP ROSTER UPDATE AND ANNUAL DUES FORM.
A proposal for membership form and summary of membership requirements are also enclosed. The proposal form, letters from proposing member and sponsors, and the candidate's C.V. should be in my office no later than May 1st, 2010 for consideration by the Membership Committee this year. Also enclosed are the summaries and Member Comment Forms for the current candidates nominated for membership- Bernard Bochner, MD, Denis Chi, MD, and Marcus Quek, MD. Please review and return your scoring sheet back to me by May 30th.
Arrangements for CME accreditation for this year's meeting in Durham are being made by one of our local hosts, Dr. Daniel Clarke-Pearson, through The University of North Carolina. This is a huge benefit to the Society, for which we are indebted to Dr. Clarke-Pearson and The University of North Carolina. In order to obtain CME accreditation for the meeting there will be substantial documentation requirements for presenters, discussants and the Society.
A guest invitation form and two abstract submission forms (for you and a guest) are included. The deadline for submission of abstracts for this year's meeting in Durham is May 1, 2010.. The Program Committee is encouraging submission of abstracts and asks that the May 1 deadline be strictly observed. Please submit abstracts directly to me by email attachment ( mhoffma1@health.usf.edu ), copied to the Program Committee Chair (Dr. Desmond Barton; dbarton@sgul.ac.uk ) and my assistant (LaTasha Morgan; lmorgan@health.usf.edu ).
Drs. Daniel Clarke-Pearson, John Soper and David Albala are planning an outstanding program for our annual meeting in Durham this year. The dates are September 15-18, 2010. More meeting information will soon be put on the SPS website. The meeting registration fee and form as well as the hotel reservation form will be sent out early this summer.
Our future annual meeting locations are as follows: The 2011 meeting will be hosted by Drs. Depetrillo, Covens and Smith in Toronto, September 14-18. The 2012 meeting will be in Louisville, hosted by Susan Galandiuk and the 2013 meeting will be in Europe. The dates of the Louisville meeting and the dates and location of the European meeting will be firmed up at the annual meeting.
